Fiddes Tinted Hard Wax Oil has the same features and qualities as Fiddes Hard Wax Oil and comes in stylish pre-tinted colours. The wide colour range is designed to compliment any home or lifestyle.

The range has been formulated over the years in consultation with interior designers and architects and is revised on a regular basis to ensure the colours are in line with market trends. Application methods can vary the depth of colour achieved. All colours can be mixed together or mixed with the clear Hard Wax Oil to dilute the strength of the tint, offering a unique opportunity to create your own customised colour and eliminating the need to stain.

PREPARATION AND APPLICATION

Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry and free from previous finish. Minor gaps and holes can be filled with Fiddes Filler Gel if required. Sand the substrate with a fine 120-150 grade sandpaper. Ensure the surface is clean and remove all traces of dust prior to application.

Ensure all areas to be coated are extremely well ventilated during and after application and always test on a small area prior to use. No sealer or primer is required. Stir contents thoroughly before and during use. Maximum 2 coats recommended. Clean applicators with White Spirits.

FLOORS: Apply with a brush, trowel or a floor applicator and buff in with a TAN or BEIGE floor pad using a slow speed buffing machine (175 RPM) whilst ragging edges working the product across the floor. Once dry, apply a coat of clear Hard Wax Oil using a short nap microfibre roller. Alternatively, to achieve a similar look without using a buffing machine mix 10% Tinted HWO with clear HWO and roll on using a short nap microfibre roller.

You can also roll the Tinted HWO straight using a short nap microfibre roller being extremely careful not to overlap and to leave roller stop marks.

FURNITURE: Brush or roll the Tinted Hard Wax Oil and then using a rag, buff into the surface ensuring the entire surface has been covered. Once dry, apply a coat of clear Hard Wax Oil using a short nap microfibre roller. Alternatively, see above instructions to mix Tinted with Clear Hard Wax Oil.

Additional notes

* When applied using the above methods the Tinted Hard Wax Oil is more of a transparent tint. If the project requires a deeper colour we recommend using a direct stain such as Fiddes Nitro or Light Fast Water Stain before applying a Clear Hard Wax Oil as per instructions.

*Depending on the timber substrate, to achieve a close to raw freshly sanded look, we recommend a coat of White Tinted Hard Wax Oil buffed in, followed by a coat of Clear Hard Wax Oil.

*Always do a test patch first and ensure the substrate is prepared in the same process as the project will be completed.

MAINTENANCE

Hard Wax Oil is a blend of natural oils and waxes offering exceptional durability and resistance for internal timber surfaces and flooring. Hard Wax Oil is easily maintained and rejuvenated when required. If maintained correctly, no future sanding is needed as it is a replenishable coating system designed to be easily spot repaired without leaving repair marks. The coating is quick drying, meaning any future maintenance coats can be applied and dry within a few hours. The coating will be fully cured in 7 days. Ongoing maintenance will depend on the treatment, so to extend the life of your coating it is important to care for it correctly.

FURNITURE AND JOINERY: To care for your furniture and joinery we recommend regular cleaning with a microfibre cloth to remove dust and to use Fiddes aftercare products. Simply spray Fiddes Wood Surface Cleaner lightly and evenly, wiping clean with a lint free cloth.

FLOORS: To keep your floor looking its best, remove dirt and grit as it can cause fine scratching and wear on your floor. We recommend a broom or electrostatic mop or if using a vacuum cleaner please ensure the head will not scratch the coating. We also recommend only mopping as required using Fiddes Wood Floor Cleaner and to not oversaturate the timber. A microfibre spray mop is ideal. Please also ensure all mobile furniture such as chairs have adequate protection to eliminate any unnecessary premature wearing. Fiddes Australia offers a range of mobile furniture protectors available to purchase on our website.

Under no circumstance use bleach, ammonia or caustic based cleaners. It is also important to not use citrus or eucalyptus-based cleaning products. These products will strip or weaken the coating and could cause colour distortion and reduce the durability and stain resistance.
